Mermaid Hairstyles

When I think of mermaids, I think of long, wavy, luscious hair. Combining the illamasqua styles, I have narrowed down to researching particular hairstyles that make me think of a mermaid.

Glitter Brow

Heres an idea for the eyes done during a practical makeup session. The looks was achieved by using blue glitter mixed with liquid latex and painted onto the brow. The idea was influenced by my words blue, gloss and glitter. 

The Illamasqua Mermaid

Having recently been to a work shop with Illamasqua, I learnt a really interesting way of creating an avant-garde makeup look. Choose to random colours, two random words and brainstorm what the combination of all makes you think of.b My words were; Blue, Orange, Glossy and Tropical.

Blue and Gloss made me think of water, which then made me think of a tropical water. From this, I then came to the conclusion that I would be doing a water themed look, adding the word water to my list. Considering the effects of water through makeup I knew the idea of gloss linked well, but considering one of the words was tropical I then wanted to think about the sun shining on the water, influencing my choice of my final word, glitter. After thinking of links to find a final outcome, we came across the ideas of fish or mermaids. Mermaids are much more simply portrayed through a person, which finalised my idea of the Illamasqua mermaid.

To influence my knowledge on the style of an Illamasqua shoot I have researched some shoots. This allows me to understand the avante-garde, futuristic style I need to portray within my own ideas. There is no simplicity within the styles, but an ever lasting beauty. Wearing Illamasqua makes you feel as if you have an alter ego, bursting with colour.

Illamasqua used to have their slogan as "makeup for your alter ego", but it has recently changed to "we are colour, you are beauty".

Illamasqua was once a brand part of the unkown. Over the past 3 years, its successfully transformed into a Cult British Beauty Brand, noticed highly within the fashion and beauty society.

The brand is extremely avant-garde. Its of eccentric taste and popularises the idea of a fantasy, futuristic, hypermodern world. Its string of collections never displeases you, covering a rage of themes equally as amazing as the last, but with a variety of differences. The collections lead to wonderful creations, from that of their chosen theme to the work of makeup aritsts inspired by their products. There will be endless themes illamasqua could cover, proving the success of a brand that will never get old.
